With this study, we begin our journey through Deuteronomy to see what it can teach us about the Goldmine Principles of purpose, creativity, goals, time management, and faith. In the opening chapter, we read
The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites . . . See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them" (Deuteronomy 1:6-8).
The people had been wandering in the Wilderness for 40 years when the Lord said, "You have stayed here long enough." The Promised Land was before them, but they had to "go in and take possession" of their promised abode and inheritance. How about you?
Is it about time that you left the camp of complacency where you're always "getting ready" to enter the promise God has for you? What is that promise? A relationship? A business? A college degree? A ministry? Some creative expression? And if you're ready to break camp, are you also prepared to move out and take possession of what is yours? That means you will have to take action and not just talk and procrastinate.
Keep in mind that the goal isn't to move around to feel or pretend like you're making progress. It's to grow and make actual progress. What steps can you take today to go in and take possession of your land? Visit someone who can fund your dream? Write a letter? Apply for admission? Incorporate your company? Whatever it is, it's time to move out and go in!
