We are in the seventh chapter of Deuteronomy, and we are still reading Moses' sermon to the people as they get ready to enter the Land. That's one long sermon, but it's full of important directives and promises. One of the promises is,
"The Lord will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all who hate you" (Deuteronomy 7:15).
This promise makes sense for if God created your body, He made it to function well so that you can do what it is He has assigned you to do. This is reminiscent of what Paul wrote in Romans 8:10-11:
But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you (emphasis added).
And then we read what Paul wrote in Ephesians 3:20-21,
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen (emphasis added).
Is divine power working in you? Is the Spirit giving life to your mortal body so that you have the energy and stamina you need to do God's will? Are you doing all you can to appropriate God's promise of health through exercise, good eating habits, and purposeful living? The same God who raised Christ from the dead lives in you. If He raises the dead, then He can heal deadly diseases. Put your faith in God that health and energy are part of His promise to you and then look to fill your days with God-given enthusiasm and energy to fulfill your purpose and be creative.
