Finally, all the tribes had their portion in the Land of God's promise, and it was time to give Joshua his own reward:
When they had finished dividing the land into its allotted portions, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun an inheritance among them, as the Lord had commanded. They gave him the town he asked for—Timnath Serah in the hill country of Ephraim. And he built up the town and settled there (Joshua 19:49-50).
Remember, it was Joshua and Caleb who had originally scouted the Land and brought back a good report while the others doubted. Those who doubted were sentenced to wander close to the Land but were never permitted to enter. Joshua and Caleb were promised a reward for their obedience. We saw earlier in this study that Caleb had received his inheritance and then, last but not least, Joshua received his.
As you serve God in the purpose that He has assigned you, don't forget that God is watching. He's ever mindful of your work and sacrifices of love. In the fullness of time, God will reward you according to His perfect justice and endless grace. Don't grow weary but rather keep your eye on the prize so you can hear His commendation, "‘Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:23). You may witness others come into their blessing. If you do, rejoice with them and know that yours is coming.
Do you know what your purpose assignment? Are you being faithful to carry it out as best you can? Are you questioning whether or not all the work is worth it? Does it seem like God isn't paying attention or is giving others their reward but has forgotten you?
I write every day and distribute what I do free of charge through every means possible. Often I do this at my own expense and at times, I grow weary and wonder, "Is it all worth it?" But then I read today's verses and remember Joshua. I'm then reminded that God rewards those who diligently seek and serve Him, and then I renew my commitment to carry on. I hope you will make the same commitment today.
